My three favorite smells

30 days of writing

I have never considered this topic before, but it is intriguing to me to know what my favorite smells are. As a token of gratitude to God, who bestows a huge enjoyment of health and the ability to smell.

Then I try to go deeper and think about what kind of smell I like so much.

Instant noodle

I love instant noodles. I have eaten numerous instant noodles in my life. I still remember the instant noodle advertisements on TV that I watched when I was young, and now those are no longer produced. Instant noodle seasoning is the key. It contains scallion oil, garlic powder, and other scents of savoriness (and certainly MSG). Those are the best combinations to make mouthwatering dishes and raise appetites.

Instant noodles are an emergency food for many students or people who have low incomes or struggle with saving because they are affordable and filling. Since I am one of them, I think my relationship with instant noodles has become deeper. Moreover, nowadays, the creation of various flavors of instant noodles itself has mushroomed. So, I can enjoy luxury and unique tastes on a budget.

I can say that instant noodles are one of the best lifesavers.

New clothes

When I unbox my clothes packages from online shops, the scent of new clothes takes over the room instantly. I loved that moment. Perhaps it was only for a short time, but I value the lingering feeling that comes with welcoming a new item into my daily life.

Orange

For me, everything about orange is refreshing. The whole orange fruit, orange peel, orange scent in perfume or any beauty products, and orange-flavored beverage products are just so fresh. I’ve never been to an orange grove before, but when I eat oranges, I always imagine that I’m in an orange grove and enjoying the cool air.

Speaking about the sense of smell, the more diverse the smell or scent that I know, the more experiences I gain, and I can also be more sensitive and thoughtful in my actions.

Smell influences my mood, emotions, and memory.

I love to smell tasty food, then eat well

I love to smell the fresh air and then enjoy it

I love to smell hot air on public transport, then calm down

Last but not least, reflecting on the sense of smell, COVID-19, influenza, and some smell disorders has taught me how important it is to be grateful for my ability to smell. If I have to pay for every second function of my sense of smell and every inch of neurons that work on it, I just say deeply sorry; I can’t.

So, let’s be more grateful every day by always keeping healthy.
